Forest of Dean

Although some of the Forest of Dean is in Herefordshire, most of it is in Gloucestershire. The photo below (which is 2 photos joined) is a fantastic view as seen from Symonds Yat Rock, a fantastic vantage point with the right part of the photo being Gloucetershire.

The Forest of Dean is the second largest crown owned forest in England (after the New Forest in Hampshire) and its unspoilt mixed woodland are a fantastic place to enjoy walking, bird watching and other outdoor activities including canoeing.

This area is the birthplace of tourism as we know it (see the article on Herefordshire's Ross-on-Wye) and with scenery as spectacular as this, it is easy to see why.
