Bourton-on-the-Water is one of the most picturesque and popular villages of the Cotswolds. The River Windrush gently runs through the centre of the town and there are a number of small road and footbridges that give the village a unique feel.
In addition to the bridges, there are a number of attractions including a maze, model village and Birdland Park. The model village is rather special and was built in the 1930s by a local craftsman. It is a 1:9 replica of the village and is so detailed in that it includes a model of the model village itself (a model within a model).
Bourton-on-the-Water is understandably a very popular destination, but its gentle timeless atmosphere has not been damaged by the tourism.
